The Grindhouse Mix
9 03 2009Todays mix is heavy in violence… heavy in sex… heavy in gore… just plain heavy! No, not really, but it does rock! It contains music from the Grindhouse double feature Planet Terror/Death Proof. Excellent film, if I do say so myself. If you haven’t seen it, rent it now! It harkens back to the days of 70’s “grindhouse” double feature “B” movies, churned out at a relentless pace for not a lot of dough. It also has some tunage from other Quentin Tanantino/Robert Rodriguez films. See if you can figure out which films they come from. So today I give you a new PunkRick Production ~ The Grindhouse Mix.

Tracklist:
1. Jack Nitzsche – The Last Race
2. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Titch – Hold Tight
3. T Rex – Jeepster
4. The Coasters – Down In Mexico
5. Willy DeVille – It’s So Easy
6. Eddie Floyd – Good Love, Bad Love
7. Smith – Baby, It’s You
8. April March – Chick Habit
9. Pacific Gas & Electric – Staggolee
10. Joe Tex – The Love You Save (May Be Your Own)
11. Eddie Beram – Riot in Thunder Alley
12. Tito & Tarantula – After Dark
13. The Tornadoes – Bustin’ Surfboards
14. Tito & Tarantula – Angry Cockroaches
15. Link Wray & His Ray Men – Jack the Ripper
16. Tito & Tarantula – Strange Face of Love
17. Dire Straits – Six Blade Knife
Enjoy.
Ciao.

When The Going Gets Weird…
26 02 2009… The weird turn Pro. So spoketh the man I named my son after. Hunter S. Thompson. Gonzo Journalist and flavored just slightly over the edge of the abyss. THE role-model of youth everywhere, or at least those growing up in the Dark Ages (also known as the 70’s). This mix is inspired by the Good Doctor, as he was affectionatley known. It runs the gamut from Rock to Soul and ends appropriately enough with a dirge-like rendition of Home on the Range. Today, PunkRick Productions present… It Never Got Weird Enough For Me.

"I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me" Hunter S. Thompson

3. Bobby Boyd Congress – Straight Ahead
4. Bob Seger – Bo Diddly
5. Brothers Unlimited – Who’s for the Young
6. Blind Faith – Can’t Find My Way Home (Electric Version)
7. Robyn Hitchcock – Up To Our Nex (Live)

10. Eric Lindell – Low on Cash
11. Simtec & Wylie – Maggie May

Album Art
26 02 2009Todays post comes to you courtesy of Any Major Dude. It’s fun to make your own album cover/artist and if you follow the link you, too, can be in the running for a Grammy. I followed the steps and this is what I came up with…

The album "Tapestry & Porcelain" by Bye Bye Boyfriend
It really does work! I actually like this as a Band/Album.
Have fun with it and post your album cover.
Enjoy.
Ciao.

High School Dance
25 02 2009I have my good friend Donna to thank for being my muse for this mix. I went through high school in the early-mid 80’s. It was a weird time to be a teenager. The last vestiges of disco were almost gone, New Wave was big and Hair bands were on the uprise. My high school dances left something to be desired. I was just a goofy kid that really had no sense of timing when it came to dancing. I did have alot of fun, though. This is a tribute to all those crazy high school dances that I went to, oh so long ago. PunkRick Productions presents… Remember When… 80’s Dance Hits, Class of ‘86.

Tracklist:
1. Prince – Let’s Go Crazy
2. Duran Duran – Wild Boys
3. The Psychedelic Furs – Pretty in Pink
4. UB 40 – Red, Red Wine
5. Billy Idol – Dancin’ with Myself
6. The Fixx – One Thing Leads to Another
7. Big Country – In a Big Country
8. The Cars – Drive
9. Adam Ant – Goody Two Shoes
10. Talking Heads – Burning Down the House
11. Oingo Boingo – Dead Man’s Party
12. INXS – Need You Tonight
13. Simple Minds – Don’t You Forget about Me
14. Mr. Mister – Broken Wings
15. General Public – Tenderness
16. The Hooters – And We Danced
17. ‘Til Tuesday – Voices Carry
18. Kenny Loggins – Footloose
Enjoy.
Ciao.
